The B.amp Mono features all the technological innovations that were the foundation of the original B.amp and applies them to a reference-level mono amplifier design.
Based on the stereo B.amp, the Mono maintains its excellent measured and audible performance and adds a level of separation that a stereo amplifier is simply unable to achieve. When the additional control and power output are factored in, the result is really quite amazing.
The fundamental principles developed for the other amplifiers within the B.audio range are still present: computer modeling and patented circuit innovations that were developed over a decade of research and experimentation. The balanced design with completely separate power supplies for each phase of operation maximizes noise rejection. The lower the noise floor, the greater the amount of low-level detail is revealed. An oversized power supply and current reserve also set the Mono apart, instantly delivering massive power when needed. As a result, the B.amp Mono’s 500-watt power output (4 ohms) will drive and control practically any speaker, regardless of efficiency or impedance. A class-A push-pull driver stage is used, which is then channeled through a transistor array specifically designed to ensure perfect immunity from loudspeakers-generated return currents. B.audio’s unique “Intelligent Output Drive” (IOD) topology is implemented at the heart of the amplifier’s output stage to offer the efficiency advantages of class AB operation while maintaining the absence of crossover distortion characteristic of class A. This results in beautiful clarity and transparency in sound reproduction: music and film scores are unmatched when played back through the Monos.
The Mono is resolute.
